Quilt Barns are a delight to be seen throughout Saline and Howard Counties in Missouri. Farmers select and paint a quilt square on the loft door area of their barns -- for fun and to share the beauty of the wide variety of quilt styles. A brochure and driving map is available -- the drive follows parts of the Santa Fe Trail, areas ecorded by the Lewis & Clark Expedition and even across lands once settled by sons of Daniel Boone.  This painting is entitled Quilt Barn #1 but the name relates only to my personal identification. It's located on Hwy. 41 between Arrow Rock and Lamine (Saline Co., MO) and I numbered it #1 because it was the first painting of this subject. I hope to do more because I love the look of this barn. And sadly, because it is slowing decaying over the years and someday will pass into the land of memories only.

Oil on canvas board.
